I am super excited to see this! Been trying to get my act together to write a newsletter about my passion project, fashion sustainability, but have not your experience nor background so I’m saved to watch you thrive in this space! The Fashion Act in NY is brilliant in terms of bypassing the stalled out federal government and NY seems like the “right fit” anyway. Best of luck as you send updates; I’ll be delighted to read and do what I can from my sofa as I am elderly, disabled and do my “thing” on line anyway. I’ll likely comment like crazy as I am prone to do but always with respect to the author and writer. CONGRATULATIONS especially on this legislation that is so very necessary. Thank you! 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Part of the problem is clothes that don't fit and overproduction. It's a huge problem in the fashion world that no one is trying to solve. 37% of returns are because clothes just don't fit. I am working on a startup that makes custom-fit clothing using body scans. Let me know what you think of the idea. https://scantogz.substack.com/about
Thank you so much for this.. it’s the zeitgeist.. we are all feeling it .. but I’ve felt aimless about what to do.. & like goofy bandaid solutions.. (buy vintage!!buy from sustainable brands!!! Re-use re-wear etc) but my lack of consciousness & knowledge around all of it feels so yuk .. & I’m happy to have found a shepherd ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Being respondible gor their supply chains is going to challenge them. Will the big brands be able to avoid compliance by breaking into smaller sub brands?
Compliance will likely eat into profits, will it raise prices enough for consumers to get on board and stop following the rapidly changing trends?
it's the company who will be liable to regulation, not brands themselves. i expect we'll be facing a lot of lobbying against the bill, but that's just the way it goes
