Welcome to Ordinary Delusions, a newsletter searching for answers in the chaos of late capitalism.

Ordinary Delusions is a roadmap for how we can flourish in a world where quality of life, prosperity, mental health and hope for a better future are harder than ever. Some of my stories that sum up the vibe I’m on:

Silicon Valley killed my dream job

Capitalism’s toxic positivity

The healing power of a wardrobe audit

The broken economics of Black Friday

Destroy your t-shirts

Obscene luxury prices are just a sign of the times

“Am I working for the bad guys?”

In a previous life, I was a fashion editor at Highsnobiety. I used to sit front row at Prada and Gucci and eat free dinners at expensive restaurants, but I switched lanes to do something more meaningful.

My first book, The World Is On Fire But We’re Still Buying Shoes looks at why we love to buy clothes even though we know it’s bad for the planet.

Tyler The Creator was into it. It was also a 2022 Financial Times book of the year. You can find it in awesome places like the Tate Modern, MoMa SF, Mast, the Neue Nationalgalerie and McNally Jackson, as well as my own store here.

I published it myself and have sold over 10,000 copies. I am currently writing another one.

My work has been featured in the New York Times, GQ, Harper's Bazaar and Dazed, and I’ve published opinion pieces in Business of Fashion, i-D and The Guardian.

Oh and the mascot for this page is this funky little sun. No real reason, I just think he just looks cool.
